Create demos with Codex or Claude (alpha)

AI agent access is a selective alpha for Codex CLI and Claude Code CLI. Create demos from screenshots, refine the content and order before creation, publish after review, and ask about views and CTA clicks — in everyday language.

Request alpha access

Reply to your SmartCue invitation or email [email protected] with your organization name and agent. Access is enabled for selected organizations and is off by default. If Settings has no AI agents tab, ask us to check access.

Connect your agent

  • Sign in to SmartCue and open Settings → AI agents in your enabled organization.
  • Choose Codex CLI or Claude Code CLI. Copy the setup commands into your terminal; sign in to your agent provider separately if needed.
  • The login command opens SmartCue in your browser. Choose the correct eligible organization, review the permissions and approve. The connection belongs to you and that organization.

  • For Codex CLI:

codex mcp add smartcue --url https://api.getsmartcue.com/agent-access/mcp

    codex mcp login smartcue

    For Claude Code CLI:

claude mcp add --transport http smartcue https://api.getsmartcue.com/agent-access/mcp

    claude mcp login smartcue

Use the commands in Settings if they differ. MCP connects your agent to SmartCue; there is no separate SmartCue CLI. Other desktop or web clients have not been verified.

    Prepare and review your screenshots

Give your agent the image files, intended audience and desired outcome. It needs permission to read and upload the files. It can also capture screenshots with its own browser/computer tools; the SmartCue extension is not required.

Try: “Create a SmartCue draft from these screenshots for a new customer. Add concise titles, descriptions, hotspots, a final CTA to https://example.com/signup and voiceover scripts. Show me the proposed order first.”

Use your own words; examples are starting points. Check the numbered outline because drag-and-drop order does not reliably determine playback order. SmartCue adds welcome and end screens.

Use the latest screenshot numbers to correct the sequence: “Move 3 before 2,” “Swap 1 and 4,” or “Put the dashboard last.” The agent should show the updated order. An order-only correction preserves text, narration scripts, hotspots and CTA.

Before creation, you can also ask “Shorten the description on 2” or “Change the final CTA to Book a demo.” A move alone does not approve creation. When ready, say “Create the draft now.” If you already gave a clear sequence and requested immediate creation, an extra ordering question is unnecessary.

Creation returns an editor link to an unpublished draft. After that, content and order changes require the SmartCue editor: this alpha cannot edit or reorder an already created showcase.

    Publish after a separate review

Ask “Show me the publishing preview for this draft.” Review the exact content and destination, then send a separate instruction: “Publish this reviewed draft.” Creating a draft or asking for a link does not publish it. Publishing makes it public.

Agent publishing supports eligible agent-created drafts in your organization with voiceover off, no lead gate and no custom footer. Changed drafts or expired previews need another review. Use the editor for unsupported settings, republishing or unpublishing.

    Ask about performance

Try “How many views and CTA clicks did our onboarding demo get in the last 30 days?” or “Show our organization's demo performance this month.” Choose the showcase if names overlap. Analytics needs the permission approved during connection.

Results show aggregate view and CTA-click events, dates and freshness. The default is 30 UTC calendar days; the maximum is 90. These are events, not unique people, leads, completion rates or conversions. Today's data is partial; unavailable data is not reported as zero.

    Voiceover, privacy and troubleshooting

  • Narration scripts prepare text without generating audio or using voiceover credits. Generate voiceover in the editor.
  • Remove sensitive screenshot information first and review your agent provider's data policies. Access stays within the consented organization and your current permissions.
  • Revoke access through Settings → AI agents → Disconnect. Completed demos remain available.
  • For an older create-only connection, disconnect and reconnect to approve publishing/analytics permissions.
  • Missing tools? Refresh the connection or start a new session. If creation fails, ask the agent to inspect the import before retrying; a confirmed editor link indicates a created draft.

  • Contact support with your organization, agent, approximate time and error message. Never send passwords or connection tokens.
